ASHLAND, Ore.- Ashlander Steve Smith of Journey is performing in the Rogue Valley this weekend ahead of a United States tour this summer.

Smith is performing with the Ashland High School Jazz Band this Saturday, February 10th. It's happening at 7:00 PM at Ashland High School at 201 S. Mountain Ave. in the Mountain Avenue Theatre.

Smith is promoting his art at a new art gallery in Ashland called "Artist Dreams." Since 2013 he's created art with his drumsticks. He tells NewsWatch12 he creates his art by drumming for 20 seconds with lighted drumsticks and records it with time-lapse photography. Those images get painted on canvases.

You can watch Smith's live demonstration Sunday, February 11th at 4:00 PM at 60 East Main St. Ashland.
