ASHLAND, Ore. -- Cheryl Kay Seyedin was reportedly last seen somewhere in the Ashland area during November 1998. However, she wasn’t reported as missing until July 1999.

The 43-year-old was reported missing by her mother and sister, who are both from Ohio. Seyedin’s mother - Shirley Cross - became concerned after not hearing from her daughter either at Thanksgiving or Christmas, according to notes from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Case notes also point out Cheryl Seyedin was a heavy alcohol user, a recreational marijuana user, and someone who was frequently violent and used a number of different last names. Furthermore, she was living with a man who had been prosecuted recently for domestic violence against her -  a man named Steve Mull.

As far as a case against Mull - investigators say it was dismissed by a prosecutor a short time before Seyedin’s disappearance. This was because of signed affidavits detailing Seyedin’s “violent tendencies,” which ultimately gave Mull an argument for self-defense.

Mull is described as being uncooperative when detectives tried to get in contact with him. Sheriff’s office notes also state Mull refused to take a polygraph test and eventually moved to Salem, Oregon and later to Michigan City, Indiana. Mull died of a brain aneurysm on April 24, 2013.

The most recent update in this case came to investigators in 2014. Interviews with known associates revealed an unidentified male who said he knew where Seyedin’s remains were buried by Mull.

But to this day, nothing has been found and the investigation remains open.
