HAYFORK, Calif. — A Medford man has gone missing while on a hike in Northern California, according to the man's family. 63-year-old David Ura was supposed to meet up with his family on June 21, but he never emerged from the trail.

Ura's wife and daughter dropped him off at the Ides Cove Trailhead in Tahama County, California on June 15. An experienced hiker, Ura planned to follow the Bigfoot Trail north to the little town of Hayfork, where his son and daughter would meet him with supplies about six days later.

Ura set off along the Bigfoot Trail with the family dog, Kingsley—but he did not appear in Hayfork when expected. Ura's son and daughter waited for over a day with no sign of him.

As of June 25—ten days after Ura began his hike—the man's family has received no word of him. They notified the Tehama County Sheriff's Office and posted frequently on social media, hoping that someone might have knowledge of his whereabouts.

Some good Samaritans have been searching sections of the trail—which is long and more than a little vague. An informational packet on the Bigfoot Trail says:

"The Bigfoot Trail is just a concept as of 2017. In essence it does not exist in the field and its name has been chosen...as a suggested way to travel, by foot, through the Klamath Mountains."

More information about the trail may be found below.
