Ashland, OR- The smoke is having a severe impact on the Oregon Shakespeare festival. Since July 20th 18 shows have either been cancelled or moved indoors.
Ted Delong the general manager for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival says it’s been
a real challenge we've had this kind of smoke in the pass for many years actually it's been a problem since 2013 but it's been the worst year yet.
Shows that have to move inside go to the Thomas Theatre or the Angus Bowmer Theater. Some shows have also been moved to Ashland High School.

The high school only seats 400, compared to the 1200 seats at the Allen Elizabthan Outdoor Venue.

The moving of shows indoors has cost the festival over $800,000 dollars. Delong believes it will be over 1 million once the smoke clears. It’s also the physical wear on the company. Delong says Just the physical wear and tear that everyone is suffering in terms of their health and the fatigue and it's a lot of extra work for everyone to move these shows around and people are really feeling it. our stay is really amazing and people are holding up really, really well. we all reach our limit and it can be tough to keep going when it's gone on for as long as it has.
The festival has two months left and smoke or no smoke the shows will go on.
