Oregonians Helping with Florence Recovery

Around 40 American Red Cross Volunteers from Oregon are helping with recovery efforts in North and South Carolina.

Around 40 American Red Cross Volunteers from Oregon are helping with disaster relief for North and South Carolina. People need food, supplies and shelter right now. 

Patty Albin is a disaster services volunteer for the red cross in Oregon. She says "sending red cross volunteers because we need man power to staff shelter to give out emergency supplies and for feeding."

Newswatch 12 also spoke with a volunteer that is there right now. Her name is Liz Kolkow. She is stationed in Columbia, South Caroline. She is from Gold Beach. 

Liz Kolkow says "I help take care of the various facilities that we have via for a shelter, a warehouse."

Liz has been working in South Carolina since September 11th. She will be there until next week.

Liz Kolkow says "It's been very very rewarding."

Patty Albin and her husband Chuck also got the call to volunteer this morning.

Patty Albin says "This is a high priority need and can you and your husband Chuck go and we looked at each other and said ok so we are flying out tomorrow."
