Roseburg Residential Fire

One person and two cats are dead after a house fire in Roseburg this evening, according to the Roseburg Fire Department.

ROSEBURG, Ore. - One person and two cats are dead after a house fire in Roseburg this evening.

The Roseburg Fire Department responded to a a house fire on Athena Avenue in Roseburg after 4p.m. Crews were notified by a neighbor that there was a person inside, who was unable to exit the home.

After crews put out the fire quickly, they found 76 year old, Elaine Hamlin and her two cats dead. 

It took thirteen firefighters and help from the Douglas County Fire District #2, Pacific Power, Roseburg Police Department, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office to assist with the emergency. 

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation
