INITIAL REPORT: Search and rescue teams are looking for a Trail man who has been missing since April 13, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).

43-year-old Dale Westrom was reportedly headed out on a hunt for mushrooms, and was last seen around 6 a.m. on Saturday. He had been walking along Highway 227 at the 44-mile marker, near the intersection with National Forest Road 32.

A friend reported Westrom missing on Monday after he did not return.

"Westrom was reportedly going mushroom hunting, but he may have become confused and walked west in an attempt to get to Sutherlin," JCSO said.

Westrom is described as a white man with brown hair, hazel eyes, and a goatee, standing about 5'9" and weighing about 195 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, an orange hooded sweatshirt, a green or blue raincoat, blue jeans, and brown boots — carrying a black backpack.

"Westrom has difficulty communicating verbally due to a medical condition," JCSO said.

If you have information about Westrom’s whereabouts, please call Sergeant Shawn Richards through dispatch at (541) 776-7206. Refer to case #19-07390.
