KLAMATH FALLS and NEWBERG, Ore. — It was a bad day to be playing the local college softball teams in Oregon today, especially for opposing hitters.

Southern Oregon University's Lauren Quirke was perfect in a 7-inning start against George Fox, throwing the Raiders first perfect game since the program restarted in 2001. She struck out eight batters as she retired all 21 batters she faced in the 1-0 win in game two.

"It was probably around the middle of the fourth, beginning of the fifth when I was like, 'Ok, wow! This might actually happen,'" Quirke said. "But at the same time, I was like 'I'm not getting ahead of myself. One pitch at a time here.'"

Oregon Tech's Sarah Abramson threw her first college career no-hitter in a 5-inning, 20-0 blowout in game one against Northwest University. Abramson struck out eight and walked three to earn her fifth win of the season.

Both teams swept their opponents on Friday, with No. 1 SOU improving to 9-1 in 2021 and OIT earning their first 8-0 start in program history.

The Raiders head to Salem, Oregon Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled against No. 23 Corban starting at 11 am and the Owls will host Northwest again in a doubleheader starting at noon.
