CORVALLIS, Ore-- On Friday, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced that it has revised its conference basketball schedule. Originally, conference play was suppose to start in a few weeks, December 4, but was pushed back earlier this week.
The conference will now begin next year, January 8 2021, and will go until March 2. However, with the reduced schedule to 18 games, the CCC has made the decision to eliminate the postseason tournament. Teams will only be able to now qualify for the NAIA National Tournament based on their regular season record.
"While our start dates may have moved, our commitment to doing everything we can to provide competition for our student-athletes in a safe and responsible manner remains our focus," added CCC Commissioner Robert Cashell.
On October 31, 2020, the CCC released its, "Return to Play Plan" which will include daily screenings, weekly PCR testing and other procedures to reduce the risk of the coronavirus spreading among teams. Sports like basketball, football, wrestling, soccer and volleyball will be required to take the PCR tests.
