CENTRAL POINT -- Wednesday afternoon marked something we don't see often in Southern Oregon: two athletes from the same school signing with Pac 12 schools. Crater cross country runner Andy Monroe signed with Stanford while wrestler Logan Meek signed with in-state Oregon State.
Each has been dominant in his respective sport over the course of their high school careers. Monroe's cross country career came to an end with a 5A state title. He beat rival Ashland runner E.J. Holland by less than a second to claim the title. Monroe had offers from several Pac 12 schools.
Meek still has his senior wrestling season ahead of him, but has accomplished more in three years than most will accomplish in four. He has two state championships under his belt and he went a perfect 46-0 in the 2016-17 season. He will go to Oregon State, a program that went 5-7 in 12 dual meets a season ago.
