REDDING, Cali--- The top-ranked Southern Oregon Softball team started off exactly where it left off on Friday with two wins over Simpson University.
In game one, the Raiders reminded us why they are ranked No. 1 in the country with a 12-0 victory after only five innings. The Raiders connected on 26 hits and 12 RBI.
Defensively, the Raiders forced the exact opposite for Simpson when it comes to offensive production. Gabby Sandoval pitched a complete game and the first no hitter at SOU since 2006.
Lauren Quirke and Riley Donovan both got their first home runs of the season. Quirke's was three-run shot in the top of the 2nd. Quirke's was immediately followed up by Donovan's solo homer.
Game two was much closer. Even in a close one, the Raiders still managed to pull the edge with a 3-2 victory.
Lauren Quirke managed most of game two. Quirke managed five innings and allowed one run off seven hits.
Up next, the Raiders will take on William Jessup for a double-header on Saturday. The first game will be at 2 p.m. The second game will be at 4 p.m.
