ASHLAND, Ore--- The Oregon Tech men's basketball team kept pouring it on against the Southern Oregon Raiders on Tuesday, a barrage of points earning the Owls their fifth consecutive win over SOU. Oregon Tech (3-4) beat Southern Oregon (2-5), 77-61, in the first Clash in the Cascades of 2021.
One could pull out as many stats as they like. To find the difference in this game, you have to look at the rebounding. A 46-25 advantage on the boards for Oregon Tech proved the Owls were the bigger and stronger team.
In the middle of all that rebounding, Oregon Tech controlled the 2nd chance points and ran away from Southern Oregon.
SOU actually hit more three-point shots, had the same number of turnovers as Tech, and even had more blocks (5-3). The rebounding is what led to an Oregon Tech win.
Keegan Shivers started the night hot, going 3-3 from downtown to start the game. He finished with 13 points which was a game high.
However, Tech saw four other players hit double-digits in scoring. Kaison Faust had 12 points and five rebounds. Garrett Albrecht had 11 points and five rebounds. Jamison Guerra had 10 points and six assists. Joey Potts had 10 points and five rebounds.
Southern Oregon hit seven three-pointers, but struggled from the field (23-61). Joe Juhala was the only player to reach double-figures for SOU (10 points).
Oregon Tech will be back in action on Friday when it takes on Simpson in Klamath Falls. That game is set for 7:30 p.m. Southern Oregon will also play again on Friday. SOU will play Antelope Valley at 3:00 p.m. in Ashland.
