LEXINGTON, KY—The chance to go from Sweet to Elite proved none too difficult for the Oregon State women’s basketball team on Friday night.
With a 72-67 win over two-seed Baylor, the Beavers advanced to their second Elite Eight in three years and snapped the Bears’ 30-game winning streak.
Senior Marie Gulich led the charge with a game-high 26 points, outpacing Kalani Brown, the All-American post on Baylor’s end.
Brown finished with 19 points, but was largely shut down in the second half after Oregon State opted to fall back into a zone.
Baylor led by two at halftime, but Oregon State shot 58 percent from the field in the second half and rallied for the win.
The Beavers will face top overall seed Louisville, with a spot in the Final Four on the line, at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
