CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State Football shocked the world in the 124th Oregon vs. Oregon State rivalry game by defeating #15 Oregon, 41-38. A game that was played in the fog, on Friday night, was characterized by 4th quarter mayhem that landed in the Beavers' favor.

"I am really happy and proud of these guys," said Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith. "This is obviously a special win."

Oregon State was led by star running back Jermar Jefferson who ran for 226 yards and two touchdowns.

Oregon State quarterback Tristian Gebbia went 23-37 for 263 yards and one touchdown.

Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough finished 20-31 for 285 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The first half started with each team their typical punches.

In the opening quarter, Oregon started with the ball first. That resulted in a 37-yard Jaylon Redd touchdown run just 2:56 into the game.

Jermar Jefferson ran for a touchdown on his first touch for the second consecutive week. On Oregon State's second play on offense, Jefferson exploded on an 82-yard rush that evened the score at 7-7. Jefferson would finish the 1st with six rushes for 134 yards. In the opening quarter, Jefferson moved to fifth all-time at Oregon State for 100-yard rushing games (14). Jefferson also moved to fifth all-time at Oregon State for career rushing touchdowns (26).

The busy 1st quarter was not done yet. Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough took one in on his feet after starting the game 9-10. Shough's 1-yard touchdown rush put the Ducks up,14-7, with 5:21 left in the 1st.

The 2nd quarter brought the kickers out for each squad. Oregon State kicker Everett Hayes hit a 34-yard kick to bring Oregon State within a score. That made it 14-10 with 13:38 left in the half.

Tyler Shough found his first passing touchdown in the rivalry game with 10:57 left on the 1st half clock. Shough found a wide-open Devon Williams in the middle of the field. Williams never looked back and finished off a 60-yard touchdown strike. That put the Ducks up, 21-10.

It was more special teams to finish up the 1st half. Hayes connected on a 48-yard kick to bring Oregon State within eight. On the very next drive, Oregon kicker Henry Katlemna hit a 33-yard kick. That carried Oregon's 24-13 lead into the intermission.

The 3rd quarter started with two punts from each squad. Oregon State would make the first scoring strike with 8:57 left in the quarter. Gebbia found Zeriah Beason from eight yards out. Oregon State attempted a two-point conversion but failed. That score and the failed conversion made it 24-19, Oregon.

Oregon responded by pushing the tempo back into high gear. Oregon would go 74 yards on just six plays. The drive ended in a 4-yard touchdown pass from Shough to Hunter Kampoyer. The touchdown extended Oregon's lead to 31-19 with 6:43 left in the 3rd.

Oregon State used a methodic drive to bring the 3rd quarter to an end with Oregon up by the same score. On that same drive, Jermar Jefferson helped Oregon State convert on a big 4th and 3 near the Oregon goal line. Gebbia would then sneak in for a 1-yard touchdown run. That score pulled the Beavers within a score. Oregon held a 31-26 lead with 13:26 left in the game.

On the ensuing Oregon drive, Tyler Shough was intercepted at the Oregon 33. The Beavers offense went full throttle and Jermar Jefferson cashed in on a two-yard touchdown run. Gebbia would then sneak in on a 2-point try. Oregon State took a 34-31 lead with 12:23 left in the game.

Oregon would respond on the next drive. The Ducks went 75 yards on 10 plays. It ended with Cyrus Habibi-Likio scoring from one yard out. That score put Oregon back in front, 38-34, with 8:27 left in the game.

The score would stay the same until Oregon State found the final lead change of the game. Oregon State found itself on the Oregon goal line with under a minute left in the game. After a 3rd-and-goal quarterback sneak attempt, Tristian Gebbia left the game with an apparent leg injury. That brought back-up quarterback Chance Nolan into the game. Nolan would push forward and score with just 33 seconds left in the game. That gave Oregon State the lead, 40-38. The extra-point attempt was missed but Oregon was caught offside. The next attempt was good, giving Oregon State a 41-38 lead.

On the next drive, Oregon's last-ditch attempt fell short. Oregon State locked up the win, 41-38.
