Pair of Ducks football stars help fellow student in fear of not eating

Two Oregon football players step in to help a fellow student in dire need.

EUGENE, Ore--- If you have ever had your card declined in the line of any store, you know the feeling. For Connor White, a student at the University of Oregon, the stakes were just a bit higher. According to White's Instagram page, two Oregon football players stepped up for him in his time of dire need.

In an Instagram post created by White on Monday, White says he had been struggling with technology for most of his day.

"I love college, but I'd spent 7 hours scrambling over campus trying to work out tech issues. Everything that could have gone wrong technology has. It's been a struggle."

White goes on to say that he had pushing through his struggle but one of the issues was that he hadn't been able to buy food over the prior days. He was only eating early in the morning and late at night in his dorm.

White stopped for food at the Panda Express in the Erb Memorial Union building. His Ducks Bucks access was declined in front of the entire line. White was unsure where his next meal would come from. Not only that, he was dealing with that "declined card" embarrassment.

"I'm obviously in distress. I'm tired, angry, annoyed, exhausted, and really really hungry. I was about to lose my cool."

That is when two stars of the campus of the University of Oregon stepped in and did something very selfless.

Defensive backs Trikweze Bridges and Avante Dickerson offered to pay for White's meal without asking further questions.

"Now, I've never been in a place where I haven't been able to buy food, so this was a panic I'd never experienced. When they offered, I couldn't help but break down in tears just thanking them (I've started crying just writing this, to show you how appreciative I am of this.) and have never been more thankful for Panda Express in my life," wrote White.

White goes on to talk about how he has been a fan of Oregon Football since he was born. For White, it was proof that high level athletes have pure good in their hearts.

"I passed hundreds of people who saw me crying, and dozens who saw me frantically searching for food in a panic. These two stood out of hundreds with their kind act, and just so happen to be 4 star football players who are leading the best defense in the nation."

As word continues to spread about the simple but kind act the Ducks displayed at the center of campus, even head coach Mario Cristobal is bragging about the content of their character.

"They do so many things that never makes a medium or social media but I'm glad that that did because it's a tremendous reflection of them, their values, their principles, how they've been raised," said Cristobal. "Certainly, shines a good light on the program as well but those guys are awesome. They're awesome as people. They're awesome as players. They're all about it. They don't do it to get a tweet or a post. They are what they are 24/7. So, really happy about their opportunity to help somebody."

The two defensive backs will be back on the field on Saturday when Oregon takes on Stanford. They are sure to have a new super fan watching when the Ducks take on the Cardinal.
