mari says: "there are less than 10 female firefighters in the rogue valley and today is the first girls fire camp in an attempt to change that number." saya says "i honestly thought it would going to be so hard that i really couldn't do but all these you all they know and see what you can actually do with your body." saya merra-hugh has a few family members but never considered it as a career for herself. saya says "i've always been like that's pretty cool but i never really thought it was a career i could do or it just didn't seem like an option and then i saw this and was like oh this sounds pretty cool i might like it." but today is to show girls that it is a career they can do ashley says: "this is the perfect age group for young woman that are trying to figure out what they want to do, go into a potential career and this just gives them that posibiliy that gets it on their radar." ashley manning organized girls camp and says that woman have always been a minority in fire service but espeacially in southern oregon ashley says "i think it's neat for the girls to see that there are female firefighters in the valley and that we can do all these jobs and we can teach them all these skills saya says "so you really get to push yourself in different ways." mari says: "sponsers across the valley were able to make today free for all of the girls and they hope to make next years camp even bigger. in white city, mari nelson, newswatch 12." people gathered at
